I would check out Southwest since they fly out of Detroit. Since you are flying before June, ticket prices should still be somewhat reasonable.

Times are good for cheap airline tickets because of the economy.
My tips are as follows.
- Complete your booking at least 3 weeks before your flight
- Check for fares on www. sidestep. com and then on the airline's website
- Try alternative airports. Sometimes, driving couple of hours may result in huge savings.
- Try breaking your trip in 2 tickets if you are going overseas. Sometimes, you can get super cheap tickets from major hubs such as Miami, New York or Los Angeles but because the airline that offers the deal does not fly to your own hom airport, you end up missing on the cheap fare to an airline that has a larger hub-and-spoke network. Just make sure you got a long layover for this option to ensure you make the next flight (say 6 hours).
hope this helps!
